A Senior Mechanical Engineer is needed for a well known aerospace/defense company. The primary responsibility of this person will be to design and maintain the company’s weapon systems such as ruggedized electromechanical fuzing devices.  
 
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Apply mechanical engineering principles to design and maintain the company’s fuzing and ordnance product lines during new product design, development, and sustain production across a multidisciplinary team.
• Supports production of existing products, working with manufacturing and quality to troubleshoot issues, document changes, and adhere to AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
• Provide inputs for Requests for Proposals 
• Define, maintain, and improve the department’s development processes and best practices
• Serve as lead mechanical engineer, responsible for design integrity and product performance and compliance
• Drive mechanical design decisions across new product development and legacy product support
• Develop and refine mechanical designs in accordance with internal standards and customer specifications
• Perform engineering calculations and collaborate with analysts to validate designs (FEA, thermal, shock/vibration)
• Define and execute design verification strategies (shock, vibration, thermal, acceleration, etc.)  

• 5-10 years of experience in mechanics, vibration, fatigue, and thermal concepts
• 5-10 years of experience in DFMA and manufacturing processes
• Active DOW Secret Security Clearance

Required Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in related field preferred.
 
Position: Direct Hire
 
Travel: 5% domestic and international required
