Srivastava Named Ingenium Technologies' Intellectual Property Manager

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, March 18, 2009
Varad Srivastava has been named Intellectual Property Manager. Over the past 2 years, Mr. Srivastava has managed the intellectual property interests for Ingenium and passed the US Patent Trade Office (USPTO) Bar Exam in November 2008. With this achievement, Ingenium is pleased to announce the availability of patent search and technical product assessment services for our customers.

Mr. Srivastava’s background includes a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mumbai (India), M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Illinois University, and an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). His Ingenium experience includes new product design of medical devices, high performance machine tools, and aerospace actuators while also managing intellectual property concerns. Prior to joining Ingenium, he served as Project Manager at Ingersoll Machine Tools, Inc.

“Understanding where one’s idea fits into IP that already exists in the early stages is crucial in setting realistic goals for the project, allocating investments and other resources, and forging partnerships with others who may already hold relevant IP. This knowledge could save the customer tens of thousands of dollars,” said Mr. Srivastava.

Ingenium’s IP services focus on prior art search and technical patent assessment. We accomplish this by using a combination of technical knowledge and hands on patent filing experience. Because Ingenium has an engineering staff of 200+ individuals we distinguish ourselves from other patent services by our depth and breadth of technical understanding.

“Ingenium is in a unique position to be able to offer not only engineering assistance on new products but IP services as well. Being able to provide an independent perspective to our customers who want to explore patenting an idea or concept is very exciting and we know our customers will come to appreciate this benefit,” stated Duane Wingate, an Ingenium principal. “In one recent example, our IP staff discovered indisputable prior art that saved the high expense of proceeding with an international patent filing. More importantly, this prior art significantly diminished the value of an existing patent that threatened to impede our client’s ability to enter this market space. Armed with this new information, our client was able to negotiate a very attractive licensing agreement with the patent holder and is now back on track to grow their business through a new product offering.”
